About a week left to get your discount!

There is only a little over a week to register for the 3rd Annual Frosty 5K by December 31st to get a discount.

Even if you miss the deadline for a discounted rate, you can still preregister for the race and pick up your race packets at Running Etc. on January 11th (a day before the race) between 3:00pm - 7:00pm.

And if you can't make either of those, you can register the day of the race.

The race is being held at the Virginia Beach SportsPlex which should make an excellent venue for our race.

Today is the Day!

Today is the day!  Our Broom Sale and White Cane from 9-4 at Fairfield Shopping Center.  

Brooms will be available to the right of Rite-Aid, and White Cane will be down by TJ Maxx and Do It Center.

Please come out and support us.  This is one of our biggest fundraising events of the year.

Broom Sale & White Cane

We will be holding our Broom sale, and collecting money for our White Cane Fundraiser. Saturday, June 30th 9am-4pm. Fairfield Shopping Center. Come out and join us!

This is the first year we are having them both on the same day and same location.  The shopping center will be abuzz with activity.

Come out and support us in our fundraiser.  100% of all funds collected will go back into the Kempsville community.

Preschool Eye Screening

The Kempsville Lions Club will be holding a Preschool Eye Screening on April 25th & 26th at Community United Methodist Church located at 1072 Old Kempsville Road, Va Bch. (in Kempsville).  Screenings will start at 9:00am.

The Kempsville Lions Club showed up ready serve 250 participants and volunteers.  It was a very nice day.

KLC to hold 22nd Annual Charity Golf Tourney

Virginia Beach Kempsville Lions Club  22nd Annual Charity Golf Tourney WE  SERVE   Tuesday, 17 April 2012

The Kempsville Lions Club Annual Charity Golf Tournament is one of the ways we raise funds to meet our commitment of helping others with sight, hearing and other medical problems and basic needs.  All net proceeds raised by the tournament go back to the community in the form of assistance.  Assistance is given in the form of eye exams and eye glasses; hearing aids; cataract surgery; diabetes screening; sight and hearing screening; clothing and food at Christmas time; scholarships to three high school seniors; and Pony and Colt Leagues.  

We still need Community Support in the form of Teams, Advertisers and Contributors.  Deadline is April 6th, 2012.

Kempsville Lions help package over 40,000 meals for the needy:

Lion Dave Booz & Lion Dana G. Phillips,

Members of the Kempsville Lions Club gathered on March 3rd, at the St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, located in Virginia Beach, to partake in a Stop Hunger Now stop. SHN is a world-wide distributer of meals to those in need.  Saturday's meals were going to the Ethiopia, Vietnam and China.

This brings the Kempsville Lions Club total up to 50,000 meals packaged.

Monthly Meeting

Please join us at our next General Membership Meeting (open to the public) on March 8th at Holiday Inn Select Airport. Social @ 6:00pm, Dinner @ 7:00pm. Speaker to follow dinner.

Message from the President - March, 2012

Fellow Lions,

“March, as the saying goes, comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.”  This year we want March to come in like a lion (Kempsville Lion that is) and go out like a Lion.  We literally have the month of March to get ready and prepare for our biggest fund raising event of the year,  -  the annual Spring golf tournament.  Lion Arlen and his committee need our help in securing sponsors, soliciting ads, procuring door prizes, and attending to all the other needs that will ensure a successful tournament.  Please “listen up” at our next meeting and then “speak up” to make known what you can do.  Your ad in the program will help.

Also, due to changes in this year's journey for sight program, Lion Lew Falls and his recreation committee will have a bigger job than usual  -  they will be feeding a much larger crowd for a great cause that will occur only a few days before the big golf event.  Once again, “listen up”, then “speak up” to Lion Lew as to how you can help.  Together we will make sure March charges like a Kempsville Lion.

There will be a Melvin Jones Fellowship Committee Meeting on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. immediately following the Lion of the Year selection. The meeting will be at Lion PDG Don's house and includes all past Melvin Jones Fellows.

KLC General Membership Meeting

This is a reminder that our next general membership meeting will be on March 8, 2012 at the Holiday Inn Select on Military Hwy.  The Social starts at 6:00pm and Dinner will be at 7:00pm.  Try to bring a friend with you.


For those who would like to attend our meeting, it is open to the public.  For meal reservations contact ANY member 2 weeks prior to the meeting so your meal will be reserved.


Lion Bud Warren will be discussing being a Lion Club Member and what Lionism is and how it fits into that equation.

2nd Annual Frosty 5K Race - Jan 14, 2012

On Saturday we held our 2nd Annual Frosty 5K race. It was a huge success. We had 215 enthusiastic runners. Everyone had a GREAT time. The weather was very brisk, but it didn't stop our runners and walkers. Overall it was a HUGE success. Thanks to ALL our Sponsors and Runners for supporting the Kempsville Lions Club.
